Reviews

PSYCHO BEACH PARTY!

"...There's always the girl who's...unappreciated and poorly socialized. Here, it's Berdine, portrayed with zest by the pig-tailed Jen Ponton. Her sincere readings of Sartre and Schopenhauer provide...comic relief." -Peter Filichia, The Star-Ledger

"Jen Ponton’s frantic, Chicklet-loving Berdine...[is] energetic and likeable."
-Bob Rendell, Talkin' Broadway

A glowing letter from a playwright:

"Dear Jen,
I am writing you to let you know how much I enjoyed your audition. You captured the sweet sarcasm that is [the character] so well. I wanted to tell you that we were literally between ...you and another girl. Both of you blew everyone else out of the water... You were the perfect [character] in my eyes, and hopefully...I could turn to you to play the role at some other time. I shall call you right away for my next reading...Again, thank you so much."

NYTheatre.com: Overboard for "Sea Story"!

Reagan Wilson

"...I loved it!...[there are] loveable sitcom characters...bubbly and well-meaning Evelyn (Jen Ponton)...
... we are nearing the end of this nautical adventure, and I think Ponton...might steal the show.
...Halpin has directed one whale of a tale that is bound to delight."

Current raves about "Sea Story"!

Diana Schwaeble

"Fans of Art House Productions... are in for a real treat with this year's multi-media production of 'Sea Story.'
...'Sea Story' is an outstanding work of truly innovative theater...
...
The tight-knit ensemble cast is delightful in this production. ...There is the innocent Evelyn [played by Jen Ponton]... The talented cast members each bring to life their varied characters."

The Villager Bubbles over 'The Little Mermaid'!

Michele Firpo-Cappiello

"...The best moments of the show were the scenes with Coral (Mary Fishburne) and her sisters Shelly (Stefanie Smith, Literally Alive's choreographer), and Pearl (Jen Ponton)...The crisp writing and delivery allowed the actors to create a real connection with one another and the audience. Their songs...were fun, comically played in the 1940s style of The Andrews Sisters. The three actors execute the difficult harmonies skillfully."

NYTheatre.com loves 'Dalai'!

Richard Hinojosa

"The final play, The Mexican Cleaning Lady or How I Almost Offended the Dalai Lama, is the most absurd play of the night and also my favorite...This is the only play of the night that really transcends all the categories of bad. The cast is great."

I've just opened my biographical musical about Kate Smith!

A celebrated singer, recording artist, radio personality and television host, Kate was America's Sweetheart from the time she was 21 (1928) through her death in 1986. She lent her voice to such classics as "When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain" and, at each Yankees game, you'll hear her version of "God Bless America."

Upon introducing Kate to Queen Elizabeth, FDR had been quoted as saying, "Kate Smith is America."
