Bio

Sean Anderson made his solo operatic debut at age 10 as Harry in Albert Herring. Since then, he has had leading roles in over forty productions, ranging from opera to Shakespeare. In 2002, he earned his Master’s Degree in Opera from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he performed in numerous award winning productions and received the Adams award for outstanding performance. Mr. Anderson’s notable achievements to date include participating in the Santa Fe and San Francisco Opera’s young artist programs, singing the title role in the Italian premier of Argento’s opera Casanova, and performing Marcello in the Baz Luhrmann production of La Boheme. Over the summer, he sang the role of Enrico in the Santa Fe Opera’s production of Donizetti’s Il Campanello. This fall, Mr. Anderson is appearing as Judge #2 in The New York City Opera’s production of Margaret Garner and he will sing Gugliemo in Cosi fan tutte with The Sarasota Opera in the spring of 2008.

“…when Anderson gets the chance to shine…shine he does indeed.”
- Ted Hoover, The Pittsburgh City Paper

“Sean Anderson interprets John Buchanan with superb singing and thoroughly convincing acting, showing with perfection the man’s youthful, sensual inclinations, his Alma-provoked growing doubts, and his eventual maturing.”
- Gordon Spencer, Pulp

“Mr. Anderson succeeded in breathing life into the role of Marcello with a commanding stage presence and a strong voice – a splendid interpretation that was alluring and effective.”
- Joseph Walkowski, OperaOnline.us

“…a strong, utterly secure Schaunard.”
