THE RINK at The Cape Playhouse
Newly tweaked by playwright Terrence McNally, the script is surprisingly gritty, and more timeless than retro. It's as striking as a slap in the face -- of which the feuding dyad in question, played to perfection by Broadway stars Leslie Uggams and Janet Metz, exchange a matching pair. Along the way we get to savor soul-baring solos by the two women -- phenomenal singers both.
-Boston Globe
Just as I was catching my breath from Ms. Uggams' opening number, along came Janet Metz for a duet with her which exhibited her own very powerful pipes. Metz and Uggams convey a multitude of emotions as they spar with each other.

Janet Metz , as Angel the daughter has a dynamite voice that can hold a note till the cows come home. Her hippie character starts out low-keyed and builds to a credible finale. She has crafted many nuances, creating an interesting and multi-faceted portrayal of the daughter.

CRIMES OF THE HEART at Theatre Aspen
The three McGrath sisters--playing with astonishing pugnacity by Janet Metz, Lisa Datz, and Sandy Rustin manage to laugh and cry and stomp their way to a conclusion that becomes maniacally cheerful despite the odds.
Maybe you've seen the movie but the stage version at Theatre Aspen surpasses those performances in my opinion. They almost seem to bust out of their seams with talent: toward the end of the evening the three McGrath sisters also show you that they can all sing beautifully--to go with their mastery of comedy, drama, and that place in between where most of life goes down. You hear their beautiful voices after all the comedy and carnage that has transpired, and you know from that point on, there is nothing these actresses can't do.
